Basketball Recap: Sunset Starts off Right with Win over Pinecrest Glades Academy

Sunset took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They really took it to the Pinecrest Glades Academy Dragons for the full four quarters, racking up a 76-47 victory. The Knights not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since January 21st (when they won 78-48).

Brandon Luis went supernova, going 18-for-33 on his way to 49 points in addition to six boards and four steals. His big performance that evening made it 19 games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Alejandro Gonzalez was another key player, shooting 40% from the field en route to 14 points and eight rebounds.

Pinecrest Glades Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kevin Hernandez, who went 6-for-10 to rack up 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rodney Padron, who posted nine points and six boards.

Sunset will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on JC Bermudez Doral at 7:30 p.m. on December 2. As for Pinecrest Glades Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 63-50 loss against Mater Brickell Academy on the 19th.
