Recap: Lakeside Panthers vs. Evans Knights

The Lakeside Panthers stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Evans 59-29 on the road. Given Lakeside's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while Evans is ranked 469th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Asunti Porter continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points along with five steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Lakeside's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elise Graybill, who scored 11 points along with four steals.

Kimariya Hinton and Makya Wicker certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Hinton scored six points along with 13 rebounds and two steals, while Wicker scored seven points along with three steals. Hinton is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.

Evans struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lakeside racked up 11 assists.

Lakeside is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Evans, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.

Lakeside will head out on the road to square off against Grovetown at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grovetown will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Evans won't have much time to rest: their next game is against South Effingham at 2:00 p.m. on January 13th.
