Football Recap: Boerne-Champion Continues Road Dominance on Friday

Boerne-Champion had won four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they bumped up to 3-2 to make it five. They came out on top against the Seguin Matadors by a score of 57-50. This was payback for the Chargers, who suffered a 73-66 loss the last time these two teams met.

Caleb Farias was his usual excellent self, rushing for 167 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 65 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Boerne-Champion was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 303 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

As for Seguin, they moved to 3-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (38), they still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Seguin still got an impressive performance from Corey Dailey, who threw for 334 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.2% of his passes, and also rushed for 54 yards and three TDs.

Coming up, after each having a week off, Boerne-Champion and New Braunfels will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. The Chargers will need to watch out since the Unicorns have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Seguin, they will challenge Pieper at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th.
