Woodcreek has no trouble against Antelope

The Woodcreek Timberwolves had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.5 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Wednesday. They strolled past Antelope with points to spare, taking the game 72-54. Given Woodcreek's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while Antelope is ranked 264th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Woodcreek found their leader in underclassman Max VanLaningham, who scored 24 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. Those 24 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Tyler Hennessey, who scored 14 points.

Antelope's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malichai Brown, who scored 11 points. Logan Melton was another key contributor, scoring nine points.

Woodcreek has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Antelope, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-8.

Woodcreek will take on Yuba City at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Yuba City is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59.5 points per game. As for Antelope, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Bella Vista at 7:30 p.m.
