Football Game Preview: Rector Cougars vs. Cedar Ridge Timberwolves

The Rector Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Cedar Ridge Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Rector is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arkansas' top teams: Midland, who was ranked 11th at the time (Rector was ranked fourth). The Cougars put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 40-20 win on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cedar Ridge). They blew past Guy-Perkins 60-12 on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Cedar Ridge's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Rector, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Rector couldn't quite finish off Cedar Ridge when the teams last played back in November of 2024 and fell 26-24. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
