Softball Recap: East Jessamine Jaguars vs. West Jessamine Colts
East Jessamine had lost 11 straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 12-21 to make it 12. They fell just short of the West Jessamine Colts by a score of 7-5. The Jaguars were not able to make up for their loss to the Colts from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Remie Smith was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up six earned runs off nine hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.
In other batting news, Layla Butler made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
As for West Jessamine, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games.
Like East Jessamine, West Jessamine also got a great game from a two-way player: Michaela Tate. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts Tate has posted since April 8th. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Emerson Collins was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
East Jessamine has already played their next match, a 12-1 win against Mercer County on the 6th. West Jessamine has also already played their next game (against South Oldham), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
