Basketball Recap: Tiftarea Academy Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Tiftarea Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 47-46 heartbreaker at the hands of the Piedmont Academy Cougars.

Piedmont Academy found their leader in sophomore Sarah Ellen Stroud, who posted 23 points and five steals. Stroud's afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 23 points. Anslyn Burrell was another key player, putting up 18 points and three steals.

Tiftarea Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Piedmont Academy, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-8.

Tiftarea Academy and Piedmont Academy could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. The Panthers (ranked 309th) will meet Southland Academy (ranked 142nd) at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026. Meanwhile, Piedmont Academy will take on Brentwood at 6:00 p.m. on the 29th with a big rank disadvantage (337 vs. 44).
