Basketball Recap: Vista PEAK Prep Comes Up Short

Vista PEAK Prep lost against Legend back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Vista PEAK Prep Bison were outmatched by the Legend Titans and fell 85-50. While losing is never fun, the Bison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Titans are ranked fourth).

Despite the loss, Vista PEAK Prep still got an impressive performance from Amaya Nance, who posted 14 points. Another player making a difference was Jade Hibbler, who put up 11 points.

Legend was led to victory by Maley Wilhelm and Grace Stanley. Wilhelm almost dropped a triple-double on 16 points, ten rebounds, and nine steals, while Stanley went 7 for 12 en route to 20 points and five assists. Stanley has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Aubrey Cook was another key player, going 6 of 9 on her way to 13 points and eight boards.

Vista PEAK Prep has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Legend, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-3.

Vista PEAK Prep will be playing at home against Denver East at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Denver East has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Legend, they will head out to square off against Grandview at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Legend is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.7 points per game this season.
