Volleyball Recap: Holgate Comes Up Short

Holgate was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Pettisville Blackbirds. The Tigers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Blackbirds from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

While Holgate ultimately came up short, they really made Pettisville work, particularly in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-18, 26-24.

Anna Bower paced Holgate's offense, picking up 11 kills. Bower got some help from Sylee Leaders and her 17 assists. Bower was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Holgate's loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Pettisville, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-9.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Holgate is set to square off against their familiar foe Montpelier at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Pettisville will challenge rival North Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
