Basketball Game Preview: Coffee Trojans vs. Houston County Bears

The Coffee Trojans will head out to challenge the Houston County Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Coffee has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with nine straight defeats, while Houston County will come in with seven straight wins.

On Tuesday, Coffee lost to Tift County on the road by a 44-28 margin. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 428th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 102nd).

Meanwhile, Houston County hadn't done well against Lee County recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Houston County sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 50-48 victory over Lee County. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bears have posted since December 10, 2024.

Coffee's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Houston County, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4.

Coffee ended up a good deal behind Houston County in their previous meeting back in February of 2020, losing 63-46. Thankfully for Coffee, Hb Morgan (who went 7 for 10 on his way to 19 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
