Basketball Recap: Lyons-Decatur Northeast Comes Up Short

Lyons-Decatur Northeast played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 69-26 loss at the hands of the Wakefield Trojans. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Despite the defeat, Lyons-Decatur Northeast had strong showings from Eyan Tuttle, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds, and Weston Hardeman, who posted six points. Tuttle has been hot recently, having posted nine or more boards the last three times he's played.

Cael Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Wakefield, dropping a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds. What's more, Johnson also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Jesse Lundahl was another key player, going 7 of 12 on his way to 17 points and eight boards.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Wakefield, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lyons-Decatur Northeast will head out to face off against Wisner-Pilger at 7:00 p.m. on February 11th. As for Wakefield, they will venture away from home to challenge Winnebago at 8:00 p.m. on February 11th. Wakefield has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
