Basketball Game Preview: Compass Academy vs. Fort Stockton Panthers

Compass Academy will head out on the road to take on the Fort Stockton Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Compass Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They slipped by Non Varsity Opponent 55-54.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fort Stockton). They came out on top against Crane by a score of 71-61 on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Fort Stockton's win came from a few key players Compass Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jondrey Reyes, who went 9 for 16 on his way to 25 points. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Deigo (Oscar) Ronquillo, who posted 13 points in addition to six boards and five assists.

Fort Stockton is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.4 points per game. As for Compass Academy, they pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.
