Volleyball Recap: Mainland Takes a Loss

Mainland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 3-1 to the Deltona Wolves. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-0 defeat two weeks ago.

Mainland was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Deltona work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 17-25, 25-13, 25-21.

Jayda Connick paced Mainland's offense, picking up six kills. Connick got some help from Emma Starr and her 18 assists. Starr also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Kaliyah Legette, each putting up three.

Mainland's loss dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Deltona, their win bumped their record up to 6-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mainland will challenge Flagler Palm Coast at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Deltona, they will take on Father Lopez at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
