Baseball Game Preview: William Monroe Dragons vs. Turner Ashby Knights

The William Monroe Dragons are taking a road trip to face off against the Turner Ashby Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. William Monroe's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Turner Ashby's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Turner Ashby will be up against a hot William Monroe team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Dragons were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Harrisonburg on Wednesday. That looming 11-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Dragons yet this season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Turner Ashby's offense. They fell just short of Broadway by a score of 1-0 on Friday. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Knights were not able to get on the board.

Tyler Hill was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March.

On the hitting side, Turner Ashby saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Mantz, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Turner Ashby's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for William Monroe, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.

William Monroe was able to grind out a solid win over Turner Ashby in their previous matchup back in April, winning 4-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dragons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
