Softball Game Recap: Perry Meridian Falcons vs. Whiteland Warriors

Perry Meridian extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 9-14 in the process. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 1-0 to the Whiteland Warriors, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 1-0 on Tuesday.

Caitlin Harris spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Macy Stroud was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

As for Whiteland, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games.

On Whiteland's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Kiley Sullivan gave up only one earned run on five hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Whiteland saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaelyn Putnam, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Perry Meridian has already played their next game, a 16-0 victory against Greenwood Christian Academy on the 15th. As for Whiteland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 6-3 win against Indian Creek on the 16th.
