Soccer Game Preview: Westwood vs. Mesa

The Westwood Warriors will venture away from home to square off against the Mesa Jackrabbits at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westwood is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Last Monday, Westwood didn't have quite enough to beat Maryvale and fell 3-2.

Meanwhile, Mesa faced Mountain Ridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. Neither Mesa nor Mountain Ridge could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 3-3 draw. The Jackrabbits' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

They hit Mountain Ridge with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Ivan Soto, Evan Romero, and Santiago Villamarin.

Mesa's draw makes their record 10-4-1 this season. As for Westwood, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4-1.

Westwood suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Mesa in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Westwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
