Preview: Hun Raiders vs. Hill School Rams
Hun has been on the road for five straight, but on Saturday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Hill School Rams at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Hun is ranked 11th in New Jersey, while Hill School is ranked 17th in Pennsylvania).
Hun suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They were beaten by Blair Academy 88-40. Hun was down 64-27 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Gabby D'Agostino, who scored 17 points. That was a full 42.5% of Hun's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of CeeJay Thomas, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Pennington scored an imposing 58 points on Saturday, Hill School still came out on top. Hill School escaped with a win against Pennington by the margin of a single free throw, 59-58. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Hill School.
Lily Soller and Sammie Faella were among the main playmakers for Hill School as the former scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals and the latter scored 22 points along with five rebounds. Lilly Hebert was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Hun has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Hill School, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 8-11.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Hun have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Hill School struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Hun beat Hill School 58-46 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Will Hun repeat their success, or does Hill School have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
