Sayre and Athens are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Redskins will host the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sayre is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Sayre came up short against Millville on Friday, falling 12-1.

Meanwhile, Athens made easy work of Wyalusing Valley on Saturday and carried off an 11-1 victory. That ten-run margin sets a new team best for the Wildcats this season.

Ty Owen spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nick Grazul, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Zeke Noble was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Athens always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wyalusing Valley only posted an OBP of .227.

Athens' win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Sayre, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Sayre might still be hurting after the 14-2 defeat they got from Athens when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Redskins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
