Basketball Game Preview: Fruitvale Bobcats vs. LaPoynor Flyers

The Fruitvale Bobcats will head out on the road to face off against the LaPoynor Flyers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Fruitvale challenged Cayuga on Tuesday. Fruitvale had to suffer through a 71-27 loss at the hands of Cayuga. The defeat continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost seven in a row.

Meanwhile, LaPoynor played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 67-47 to Martins Mill. While losing is never fun, the Flyers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 526th, while the Mustangs are ranked 86th).

LaPoynor dropped their record down to 18-10 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Fruitvale, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-9.

Fruitvale ended up a good deal behind LaPoynor in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, losing 65-48. Can Fruitvale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
