St. Joseph Notre Dame and Redwood Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The St. Joseph Notre Dame Pilots will welcome the Redwood Christian Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Joseph Notre Dame has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight defeats, while Redwood Christian will come in with four straight wins.

On Saturday, St. Joseph Notre Dame came up short against Encinal and fell 7-3.

St. Joseph Notre Dame saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Dumont, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

While Redwood Christian didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over Athenian on Tuesday.

Gil Butler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up six Ks. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Travis Dong, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Hendren, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Redwood Christian's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for St. Joseph Notre Dame, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. St. Joseph Notre Dame has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Redwood Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

St. Joseph Notre Dame couldn't quite get it done against Redwood Christian when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-2. Can St. Joseph Notre Dame avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
