Basketball Game Preview: Centura Centurions vs. Ravenna Bluejays

The Centura Centurions are taking a road trip to square off against the Ravenna Bluejays at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Centura will be strutting in after a victory while Ravenna will be coming in after a defeat.

Centura took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They managed a 44-38 win over St. Paul.

Among those leading the charge was Weston Kroeger, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Dvorak, who posted seven points.

Meanwhile, Ravenna was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They came up short against Elm Creek, falling 70-45. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bluejays have suffered against the Buffaloes since January 24, 2017.

Ravenna's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Centura, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-9.

Centura beat Ravenna 53-40 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Centura since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
