Baseball Recap: Covenant Day Triumphs

Covenant Day lost to Legion Collegiate Academy back in March of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Covenant Day Lions came out on top against the Legion Collegiate Academy Lancers by a score of 8-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

Covenant Day got a great performance from Grant Gardner as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Gardner has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Ethan Andujar was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Brode Dixon was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Covenant Day's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Legion Collegiate Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Covenant Day will square off against Grace Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Legion Collegiate Academy, they will venture away from home to take on Combine Academy Varsity at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Legion Collegiate Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
