Soccer Game Preview: Lewis County vs. Wheeling Central Catholic + How To Watch

The Lewis County Minutemen will head out to challenge the Wheeling Central Catholic Maroon Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Lewis County has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Wheeling Central Catholic will arrive with three straight victories.

Lewis County managed to keep up with East Fairmont until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Minutemen came up short against the Bees, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, Lewis County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 51st, while East Fairmont are ranked ninth).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wheeling Central Catholic). They put the hurt on Notre Dame with a sharp 8-1 win on Tuesday. With Wheeling Central Catholic ahead 4-1 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Lewis County's loss dropped their record down to 4-8-1. As for Wheeling Central Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.

Everything went Lewis County's way against Wheeling Central Catholic in their previous matchup back in September of 2023, as Lewis County made off with a 4-0 win.
