Maize South waltzed into their match on Thursday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They came out on top against the Washburn Rural Blues by a score of 2-0. For the Mavericks, this counts as revenge for the 2-1 victory the Blues walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Maize South not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Washburn Rural between 20 and 21 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-20.

Maize South's win bumped their record up to 17-1. As for Washburn Rural, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

Coincidentally, Maize South and Washburn Rural will both be playing Saint Thomas Aquinas the next time they take the court. The Blues will host the Saints on Thursday, while the Mavericks will play them later in the day, at 4:00 p.m.
