Basketball Game Preview: DeSoto Central Jaguars vs. Byhalia Indians

The DeSoto Central Jaguars will venture away from home to take on the Byhalia Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in DeSoto Central's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.

If DeSoto Central beats Byhalia with 68 points on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. DeSoto Central blew past Ingomar 68-45 on Tuesday. The Jaguars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Byhalia, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 52-51 win over South Pontotoc. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Indians' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while the Cougars are ranked 100th).

DeSoto Central pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24 points. As for Byhalia, their record is now 3-8.

Everything came up roses for DeSoto Central against Byhalia in their previous matchup back in November, as the team secured a 68-28 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for DeSoto Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
