Basketball Game Preview: San Lorenzo Valley Cougars vs. Santa Cruz Cardinals

San Lorenzo Valley is 0-10 against Santa Cruz since January of 2020 but things could change on Saturday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Cougars take on the Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

San Lorenzo Valley is headed into Saturday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 15th straight game on Thursday. They took a blow against Scotts Valley, falling 85-50. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1138th, while the Falcons are ranked 536th).

Meanwhile, Santa Cruz was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 48-44 to Aptos.

San Lorenzo Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Santa Cruz, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-10.

San Lorenzo Valley was dealt a bruising 77-24 defeat at the hands of Santa Cruz in their previous meeting two weeks ago. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Santa Cruz's Demarco Hunter, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and ten boards.
