Softball Recap: Sparta Trojans vs. Mountain Grove Panthers

Sparta stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard in their first game on Friday. Everything went their way against the Mountain Grove Panthers as the Sparta Trojans made off with an 11-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Sparta.

Addison Humble was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (she also didn't allow any walks). Humble has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive pitching appearances. Humble was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Sparta got a massive performance out of Addi Taylor, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. Layne Forgey was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Sparta's victory bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Mountain Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

Sparta didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 win vs. Blue Eye on the 12th. As for Mountain Grove, they will be playing at home against Hartville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
