Basketball Recap: Adaline Sheplee and Addison Schmidt Secure Win for Rice Lake

Rice Lake waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 53-42 victory over the Amery Warriors. Given Rice Lake's advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while Amery is ranked 137th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rice Lake was led to victory by Addison Schmidt and Adaline Sheplee. Schmidt dropped a double-double on 22 points and 16 boards, while Sheplee dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. Schmidt is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Schradle, who posted four points and nine rebounds.

Rice Lake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 11 consecutive matchups.

Rice Lake's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. As for Amery, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-3.

Rice Lake will take on Eau Claire Memorial at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Amery, they will square off against Prescott at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
