Soccer Game Preview: Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill vs. Cary Christian

The Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill Lion will head out on the road to take on the Cary Christian Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating St. David's, who they had gone 1-6 against in their seven prior meetings. The Lion blew past the Warriors 8-1 on Thursday. Given Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 41st, while St. David's are ranked 376th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Cary Christian hadn't done well against Wake Christian Academy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Knights put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 6-3 win. The high-scoring effort was just what Cary Christian needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Elijah Holmes and Seth Stopper scored all six of Cary Christian's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 56 goals.

The victory (which was Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill's third in a row) raised their record to 10-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those three matchups. As for Cary Christian, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill was able to grind out a solid victory over Cary Christian in their previous meeting on September 11th, winning 6-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lion since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
