Basketball Game Preview: Johnson Knights vs. Chestatee War Eagles

Johnson is 0-10 against Chestatee since November of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Johnson Knights will square off against the Chestatee War Eagles at 7:00 p.m.

Johnson is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 31st straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They were dealt a 70-15 defeat at the hands of Pickens. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 527th, while the Dragons are ranked 23rd).

Meanwhile, Chestatee entered their tilt with Lumpkin County on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 52-42 victory over the Indians.

Chestatee has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.6 points per game. As for Johnson, their loss dropped their record down to 0-12.

Johnson was taken down by Chestatee 65-24 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Johnson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
