Trinity Christian Academy prepares to host a special TOC 2015-16 ceremony where the football team will be nationally recognized by MaxPreps.
MaxPreps is pleased to announce that the
Trinity Christian Academy (Jacksonville, FL) Conquerors have officially been named to the 11th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard, which is in its 11th year honoring football.
This is one of the most prestigious team awards in all of high school sports and it is an exclusive honor reserved for the top 100 teams nationwide. In order to be eligible, a team must win a state championship and be highly ranked in the MaxPreps National Rankings. For football, only 50 of the country's best are invited and with nearly 17,000 competing varsity teams. This puts the Conquerors ahead of 99.9 percent of their opponents!
After taking home the last two state titles, the Conquerors were the 2015 Class 3A favorites and began the season ranked
No. 1 in the MaxPreps preseason small schools national football rankings. They were also ranked
No. 20 in the MaxPreps preseason south region rankings. At the start of the 2015 year, Trinity Christian Academy was among the top 11 teams with the most all-time Florida high school football state titles at
No. 9 with five overall since 2002.
The Conquerors mowed their opponents all season and continued to do so in the
2015 FHSAA Class 3A football playoffs as they outscored their opponents (Pensacola Catholic, Taylor County and Tampa Catholic) 147-17 en route to the state championship game. With a
47-17 win over Tampa Catholic in the semifinals, No. 1 Trinity Christian Academy set up its opportunity for a third consecutive title.

On Dec. 5 the defending state champion Trinity played American Heritage out of Delray Beach for the second year in a row as beat the Stallions in the 2014 title game. The Conquerors' overpowering defense kept the Stallions out of the end zone in a
30-3 victory and their third straight Class 3A championship. This was also the program's fourth title in five years.
After the win over American Heritage, the team became the first school from Jacksonville and Duval County to win three straight championships and are now only one of nine teams in state history to win three in a row. Head coach Verlon Dorminey currently holds a 12-game playoff winning streak and has led the program all six of its state titles.
The three-time state champions completed a perfect 14-0 season and extended their winning streak to 22 games dating back to 2013. In its 14 games, Trinity displayed especial dominance in the first half and outscored its opponents 373-65 (620-150 overall). On top of that, the team had defeated every opponent by 10 or more points and averaged 44.3 points per game.
At the conclusion of their season, the Conquerors finished ranked No. 33 in the nation, No. 5 in Florida, No. 1 in Division 3A,
No. 12 in the south region,
No. 14 in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 and
No. 1 in the national small schools rankings for the second year in a row.
These incredible season achievements have earned the Trinity Christian Academy Conquerors an invitation to the 11th Annual Tour of Champions.
Please join us as we celebrate with the football team, head coach Verlon Dorminey, students and fans on Friday, Feb. 5 at 12:30 p.m. during the schoolwide chapel service in the auditorium.
