Basketball Recap: Monday's Victory Is East Lincoln's 16th in Last 18 Outings

There's no place like home for East Lincoln, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They claimed a resounding 72-35 win over the Statesville Greyhounds. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 23 points or more this season.

East Lincoln's win on Monday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Taniyah Thomas, who went 10-for-17 to rack up 22 points in addition to seven steals and five boards. Thomas is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 26 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Lane Pethel, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 16 rebounds.

East Lincoln smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

East Lincoln is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 18 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. As for Statesville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season.

Looking ahead, East Lincoln and Foard will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest, having both just played. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Emma Montanari and Jessica Bailey. Statesville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
