Volleyball Game Preview: Southington Blue Knights vs. Shelton Gaels

The Southington Blue Knights will head out to face off against the Shelton Gaels at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Southington is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Connecticut's top teams: Conard, who was ranked first at the time (Southington was ranked 20th). The Blue Knights took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Wolves on Tuesday. The Blue Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Southington started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 17-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-16.

Mark O'Donnell put forth a good effort for the losing side as he had 11 digs.

Meanwhile, Shelton came tearing into Friday's game with ten straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Rams.

Shelton's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-3. As for Southington, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.
