Softball Game Preview: Griffith Panthers vs. Illiana Christian Vikings

Griffith is 0-7 against Illiana Christian since April of 2021 but things could change on Monday. The Panthers will look to defend their home field against the Vikings at 5:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Griffith lost 12-3 to Boone Grove on Saturday. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Westfield hit Illiana Christian with a four-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings fell 8-4 to the Shamrocks.

Cayden Petersen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Lauren Kreykes made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Another player making a difference was Olivia Daliege, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Griffith's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Illiana Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
