Volleyball Game Preview: Grapevine Mustangs vs. Lubbock-Cooper Pirates

The Grapevine Mustangs will square off against the Lubbock-Cooper Pirates on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Grapevine is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Burleson. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Grapevine not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Burleson between 20 and 21 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-21, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Lubbock-Cooper made easy work of Burges on Monday and carried off a 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won three in a row.

While Lubbock-Cooper won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-23, 25-20.

Grapevine's record now sits at 25-19. As for Lubbock-Cooper, their record is now 25-12.

Grapevine might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Lubbock-Cooper when the teams last played back in August of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
