Soccer Game Preview: Shadow Creek vs. Pasadena Memorial

The Shadow Creek Sharks will venture away from home to face off against the Pasadena Memorial Mavericks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Shadow Creek is headed into the matchup having not lost since January 23 and will look to keep things rolling. They came out on top against Dobie by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. Given the Sharks' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 158th in Texas, while the Longhorns are ranked 376th in Texas), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Pasadena Memorial kept a clean sheet against Dobie on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Longhorns with a sharp 3-0 victory. The game was the first time the Mavericks have beaten the Longhorns on their pitch since March 5, 2021.

Shadow Creek has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 33 goals over those nine games. Pasadena Memorial's record now sits at 5-9.

Shadow Creek took their win against Pasadena Memorial in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Shadow Creek since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
