Winning always takes teamwork, but on Friday Darren Mays stepped things up a notch to give Van Buren the 'W'. Southside had no answer to Mays as he made 12 total tackles (1.0 for loss) and snagged an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown. Mays is on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made ten or more in each of the last four games he's played.

Coming up, Mays and Van Buren will head out on the road to challenge Greenwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mays had to take a defeat the last time the two teams duked it out, losing their contest back in October of 2024 63-14.
