Baseball Recap: Doherty Has No Trouble Against Cheyenne Mountain

Doherty lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Cheyenne Mountain, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's matchup. The Spartans put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 10-4 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Derek Graham made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Crew Miller was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2025.

Doherty kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive games.

With the victory, Doherty broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 12-12. As for Cheyenne Mountain, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-9.

As of now, neither Doherty nor the Hawks have any future games scheduled.
