Basketball Recap: Bre Evans' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Neptune over Rumson-Fair Haven

Neptune lost against Rumson-Fair Haven back in February of 2020 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Neptune Scarlet Fliers fell to the Rumson-Fair Haven Bulldogs 49-43. The Scarlet Fliers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Neptune's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bre Evans, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 19 points and four steals. Evans has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Christa Ramos, who posted 15 points and five rebounds.

Neptune's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Rumson-Fair Haven, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Neptune will challenge Manasquan at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Rumson-Fair Haven has already played their next game (against Holmdel), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
