In what's become a running theme this season, Fort Bend Clements gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand Fort Bend Dulles a 9-0 shutout. Given Fort Bend Clements' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 91st, while Fort Bend Dulles is ranked 581st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Fort Bend Elkins waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top against George Ranch by a score of 2-0. Give Fort Bend Elkins' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Madison Inniss and
Jada Moye, who scored both of Fort Bend Elkins' goals. The pair have combined for a total of 11 so far this season.
Fort Bend Clements has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-1-1 record this season. As for Fort Bend Elkins, they now have a winning record of 7-6-2.
Fort Bend Clements beat Fort Bend Elkins by a goal in their previous meeting back in January, winning 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fort Bend Clements since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
