Basketball Recap: Fairfax Lions vs. West Potomac Wolverines
If the Fairfax Lions were riding high off their 63-35 takedown of the Robinson Rams last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Fairfax took a serious blow against the Wolverines on Thursday, falling 72-35. Fairfax lost against the Wolverines in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 60-52 score last time.
Fairfax's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cameron Love, who scored 12 points. Ronier Peters was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds.
Fairfax's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-7. As for West Potomac, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairfax will square off against the Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Woodson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Thursday. As for West Potomac, they will head out on the road to square off against the Bruins at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Braddock will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 291st, while the Wolverines are ranked 41st).
