Basketball Recap: St. Anthony Saints vs. Wiregrass Ranch Bulls
St. Anthony proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 26) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 83-81 win over the Wiregrass Ranch Bulls.
Despite the loss, Wiregrass Ranch still got an impressive performance from Kj Smith, who went 9 for 19 on his way to 31 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven assists. Smith has been hot for a while, having posted 15 or more points the last 13 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ajayden Jenkins, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 16 points.
St. Anthony has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.0 points per game. As for Wiregrass Ranch, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.
St. Anthony will venture away from home to square off against Bishop Montgomery at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
