Baseball Preview: Fayetteville Lions vs. Bloomington Bobcats/Lady Cats
The Fayetteville Lions will take on the Bloomington Bobcats/Lady Cats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fayetteville has three straight wins, Bloomington has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, Fayetteville made easy work of BVCHEA HomeSchool and carried off a 14-1 victory.
Kandon Kaspar was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Lawson Fritsch and Easton Jaeger did most of the damage at the plate: Fritsch went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles, while Jaeger went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Jaeger has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dylan Henneke, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Fayetteville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as BVCHEA HomeSchool only managed two hits.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Bloomington's offense. They came up short against Ganado last Friday, falling 27-0.
Bloomington's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Fayetteville, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
