Volleyball Recap: Lyla Magnussen's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Dublin Scioto over Centerville

After flying high against Westerville South on Thursday, Dublin Scioto came back down to earth. The Irish fell just short of the Centerville Elks by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. While the Irish didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Elks 25-10 in the first set.

Dublin Scioto actually scored more points across those three sets (66-62), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 10-25, 27-25, 25-16.

Several Irish players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lyla Magnussen, who had 12 digs and four assists. Another player making a difference was Carli Celek, who had four aces and three digs.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Centerville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hadley Heil, who had 13 digs and three assists. Heil has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last five times she's played. Kelly Horky was another key player, getting 16 assists and seven digs.

Dublin Scioto's loss dropped their record down to 11-3. As for Centerville, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.

Dublin Scioto has already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy on the 20th. As for Centerville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Pickerington Central on the 20th.
