Soccer Game Preview: Liberty vs. Rampart

The Liberty Lancers will take on the Rampart Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rampart took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Liberty, who comes in off a win.

If Rampart heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Liberty took over last week. The Lancers came out on top against Fountain-Fort Carson by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for Liberty in their matchups with Fountain-Fort Carson: they've now won nine in a row.

Steven McAllister and Jaxsen Zellner scored all three of Liberty's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Meanwhile, Rampart entered their match against Pine Creek on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Rams came up short against the Eagles, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, Rampart can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado soccer rankings (they are ranked 70th, while Pine Creek are ranked 13th).

Rampart's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-4-1. As for Liberty, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.

Everything went Liberty's way against Rampart in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Liberty made off with a 5-0 win. Will the Lancers repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
