Softball Recap: Washington Wildcats vs. Sumner Academy Sabres
Washington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They lost 17-2 to the Sumner Academy Sabres. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Sabres this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-2 back in April.
Washington saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nadia Mondragon, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run. Those hits marked the first that Mondragon has got this season.
Washington's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Sumner Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season.
Sumner Academy will face off against Wyandotte at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Washington will be paying especially close attention to the Sabres' game: after the Sabres face off against Harmon, they'll take on Washington again at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
