Baseball Game Preview: Salem Academy Crusaders vs. Gaston Greyhounds

The Salem Academy Crusaders will take on the Gaston Greyhounds at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Salem Academy's win against Waldport wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Salem Academy won by a run and slipped past Waldport 3-2.

Gaston not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 5, 2024. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over Scio. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Greyhounds.

Gaston got a massive performance out of Aiden Sheets, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1. The team also got some help courtesy of Wesley Tavera, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Gaston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .565. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Scio only posted an OBP of .364.

Gaston now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Salem Academy, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-2.

Salem Academy took their win against Gaston in their previous matchup back in March of 2015 by a conclusive 14-4. Does Salem Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gaston turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
