Baseball Game Preview: Canyon Comanches vs. Brea Olinda Wildcats

Canyon and Brea Olinda are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2022, but likely not for long. The Comanches will welcome the Wildcats at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Brea Olinda took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Canyon, who comes in off a win.

Canyon took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They never let Banning get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. The game marked the Comanches' most dominant victory of the season.

Spencer Mayfield looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, Camden Goetz was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was John Somerndike, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Brea Olinda suffered their closest loss since March 3rd on Friday. They fell just short of Pacifica by a score of 6-4. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Mariners recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Brea Olinda's defeat dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Canyon, the win got them back to even at 12-12.
