Football Recap: Hardin-Jefferson Takes a Loss

Hardin-Jefferson lost against Bridge City back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Hawks took a hard 24-6 fall against the Cardinals. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 629th, while the Cardinals are ranked 291st).

Ashton Sumrall was his usual excellent self, rushing for 153 yards, while also picking up 46 receiving yards for Bridge City. That's the most rushing yards Sumrall has posted since back in October of 2024.

This is the second loss in a row for Hardin-Jefferson and nudges their season record down to 3-3. As for Bridge City, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-0.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Hardin-Jefferson will square off against rival Hargrave at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Bridge City is set to take on their familiar foe Livingston at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
