Recap: Bethlehem Wildcats vs. Holmes County Blue Devils
After a string of three wins, the Bethlehem Wildcats's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell 49-42 to Holmes County. While losing is never fun, Bethlehem can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 370th, while Holmes County is ranked 180th).
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madison Williams, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Paul, who scored ten points.
Savannah Goodman was her usual excellent self, scoring 22 points for Holmes County. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Goodman has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Whitaker, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Bethlehem now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Holmes County, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.
Bethlehem will be playing at home against Paxton at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Paxton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 last Thursday. Holmes County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Chipley at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully Chipley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 last Thursday.
